Garden Party Style

I am going to make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend by throwing a garden party for my friends and family. Pimms, strawberries and cucumber sandwiches there’s nothing like a Great British Summer (even if the sun isn’t shining).

Garden parties are the perfect opportunity to show off your favourite summer style and nothing says garden party more than floral print. Play it safe in a pretty floral dress or experiment with one of this season’s hottest trends – a co-ord. Topshop and H&M, and many other Liberty retailers, have some fab matching co-ords that will ensure you the talk of the party (for all the right reasons!).

Another classic garden party look is a maxi dress. If you’ve not managed prep your legs for summer – don’t worry, a maxi dress will ensure you are covered up whilst still looking summer ready!

Men, look summer chic in a pair of brown chinos paired with a crisp white shirt – sharp and sophisticated. And, if you’re feeling adventurous, throw on a straw panama hat from Topman for impeccable summer style.

As I will be out doing the all the shopping my husband has said he will do the gardening – sounds like a good deal to me.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Here Comes the Sun (we hope!)

It’s sunglass season and I am going to give you the round-up of all the sunglasses to be seen in this summer. I love wearing my shades, they make you look mysterious and (take note), wearing sunglasses instantly makes you appear more attractive!

You don’t have to pay a fortune to get your hands on a fab a pair of glasses, at The Liberty they can accommodate all styles and budgets.

Everyone wants a pair of designer sunglasses, I bought a pair of Ray Bans last year and I absolutely love them but I get so bored of wearing the same pair all the time, plus, how many of you have accidently sat on a pair of glasses or popped a lens? I know I have – so I tend to buy myself a selection of high street frames to get me through the season.

Here are some of my favourite styles of the summer:

Plastic Colourful Frames

Rainbow colours are everywhere this summer and they look great – go bright and make a statement.

Mirrored Lenses

Mirrored lenses are back in fashion and this year – the more reflective the better.

Cat’s Eyes

For a playful and fun look try a pair of frames that have raised cat-eye edges, they flatter most faces.

Vintage Gentlemen

Androgyny is hot! Styles such as the classic aviator and the wayfarers give a clean sophisticated look with a masculine edge. Year on year they are the most popular style of glasses!

I just hope the sun comes out – and stays out! Happy Shopping,

Jessica

Summer Pay Day Spree

The sun has been shining all week and it finally feels like summer has arrived. With just one month to go until my holiday to Marbella with the girls, I am going to be spending this weekend shopping at The Liberty.

I am so excited about a week off work and looking forward to the blazing hot sunshine of the Costa Del Sol. Holidaying in Marbella is the ultimate dream for a party girl like me. There are pool parties, beach parties, boat parties and not to mention the array of exclusive bars and clubs in Puerto Banus.

Fashion is very important and everyone is dolled up head-to-toe which is perfect for us Essex girls. There is a lot of competition between the girls and so I need to make sure I have enough fabulous outfits to last me the week.

My essential shopping list for Marbella includes:

-       3x bikinis

-       2x sunglasses ( I am bound to lose a pair)

-       A pair of day wedges

-       A pair of night time heels

-       Jewellery for the beach including bangles and body chains

-       Beach bag

-       …..the list is endless

I think I’d better get started!

Belle of the Ball

It’s that time of year again when young girls everywhere are frantically trying to find that perfect dress for their school proms. Exams will soon be over and the night that you’ve been dreaming about all year is almost here. You’ve chosen your date, the limo has been booked and all that’s left is the dress. Full length or cocktail? Strapless or halter neck? There are so many things to consider. But don’t worry The Liberty Belles are here to help.

Here are a couple of things to consider:

1.     Colour

Have you and your date chosen a colour scheme? If not, chose a colour that matches your skin tone – jewelled  colours such as emerald green and ruby red look great on pale skin. Bright, vivid colours work well with darker skin tones and are very on trend for the summer.

2.     Length

Choose full length for a classic, sophisticated look – a loose fitting empire line is fab for hiding any unwanted lumps and bumps. If you have gorgeous long legs then show them off with a short, cocktail dress. Cocktail dresses can be both fun and glamorous and will give your prom look a 60s vibe.

3.     Have fun!!

Your school prom only comes around once so make sure you enjoy the evening.

Happy shopping from The Liberty Belles!

Getting Sneaky

Cool kids wear cool kicks. Fact! As much as I love my high heels, I now have a collection of trainers that would compete with most of the men out there.

A couple of years ago I wouldn’t have been caught dead in such sporty, casual footwear, but the trainer has officially landed back into the female wardrobe with help from A-listers such as model of the year, Cara Delevingne.

From hi-tops to low-tops, slip-ons to boots, designer trainers have never been so popular and the key thing about this year’s footwear favourite is the colour. Go bright, go bold and make a statement.

Colourful trainers are something that both men and women can work. My friends and I love the likes of Converse plimsolls and the sought-after Blazer by Nike. They come in a fabulous range of colours and prints – I have the same pair in four different styles!

The best part is, you can wear them with just about anything – jeans, shorts, skirts and Rihanna has shown us how fab they look paired with dresses mini, midi and maxi!

After a long week at work I cannot wait to spend the weekend in my favourite pair of kicks!

Spring Queen

As the weather has been so cold and miserable I decided to do a little spring cleaning. It was one of those jobs where it started off small and finished up me turning the house upside down. I got so much done in just one afternoon, it felt amazing!

Here are my top 3 tips for spring cleaning:

1.     Organise your wardrobe

Sort through all your clothes: donate unused clothes and accessories and put your winter stuff away into storage. Nobody likes a cluttered wardrobe – I am much happier with less stuff and I’m more able to enjoy what I do have. Plus, there will be room to fit all my new Spring/Summer items.

2.     Clean – properly

If you’re going to spring clean then do it properly – polish your silver, wash your windows, dust the light bulbs and wipe the walls. Everything in your home should be gleaming. Trust me you will feel much better. So put on your pink rubber gloves and floral apron and dust, dust, dust.

3.     Create a different mood

I have compiled a list of house accessories I want to go out and buy this weekend – just little things that would make my space feel more like a home and get it ready for all those summer parties. Printed cushions and lamp shades are a fun way to add a touch of Spring without having to empty your pockets. The Liberty has a great range of home stores where you can find fab accessories that will help to brighten up the mood.
